Creative Expression

Using patterns as a jumping off point for your own creations
by Jackie E-S

For ideas of how to use patterns as a jumping off point for your own creative expression, look at what Carol Griffin of Florida did with the #A34 Swirling Lace Anklet to make her "Sunrise-Sunset" socks. She wrote –

I liked the way it [the pattern stitch] was looking so much I couldn't stop doing it and reverse direction. Decided I would just go ahead with it and, of course, loved it!

Then she went on to do the second sock –

I always like trying new and different ... so I did p2tog instead and I like that look, too. You may also notice that the second sock is slightly more textured as well as reversed.
